You will have the chance to join with other groups of students all over the world to go hungry in order to fight hunger. In the process, you will learn the truth about hunger, poverty, and injustice - and how the Gospel overcomes it all with love.
The fast will begin Friday morning and last throughout school, overnight, and into Saturday morning. The weekend will take students through a variety of experiences. Worship, teaching, videos, and serving those in need - just to name a few. Students will also experience the homeless and hunger in new ways as we create a cardboard tent city to sleep in on Friday night.
All students will need to bring are their Bibles, sleeping bags, and pillows! We will provide boxes and a full juice bar to help in the fasting.
The purpose of the famine is not just to experience what millions of people around the world are experiencing every day, but to always raise money to support those families.
By clicking on the picture to the right, you will have the opportunity to donate and support our teenagers who are participating in the event, and every cent will go to feeding hungry people all across the world through the World Vision organization.
If you are concerned about your child not being able to last 30 hours (especially in areas concerning health and body development), fear not! Students are allowed to bring snacks, and we will have emergency food on hand. Our only request is that students who need to grab a quick snack go to a private room and eat, instead of eating in front of everyone else. While we encourage students go as long as they can, we do not want to put any of them at risk.
As for sleeping arrangements, if weather is troublesome, the "tent city" will be established indoors, and students are encouraged to bring a sleeping bag and a pillow regardless.
