Canopy Roads embarked on a new local ministry mission in September 2011. That ministry is Canopy Cupboard. The purpose of this mission is to show God's love through meeting, praying for, and helping to feed the needy. This mission is funded entirely by donation and receives NO church budget funding. Those wishing to participate can do so either by donating your time to one of the mission functions or by donating money to fund the mission, or both. Our cost for a bag of groceries is about $12. This provides enough food for several meals for a family. If you find that God puts it on your heart to contribute, please contact Wayne or Danette Davis.
NOTE: If you would like to donate clothing (as our distribution has now expanded to include clothing when availabe, pleae ensure that any used clothing you donate has been washed before bringing it in. Thanks.
09/26/11 - We held our First food distribution and were able to serve 21 families.
10/17/11 - We held our second food distribution. We were able to serve 38 families. It is just amazing to see God growing this ministry and to share His love with those in need.
11/21/11 - Third food distribution day. We were able to serve 87 families. God richly blessed Canopy Roads this month, so we were able to give out Publix gift cards as well as the normal bag of groceries. How humbling it is to hear, "We'll have a turkey this year" when we've never had to worry about that. Seeing people with tears of joy and relief as they received an outpuring of God's love just warms your heart! We praise Him for these might blessings to both those serving and those served. I know my Thanksgiving prayers will include thanks for the generosity of the Canopy Roads congregation for funding this ministry.
12/19/11 - Thanks to everyone who generously donated toward the gift baskets for December’s Canopy Cupboard distribution! We hope this brightened these families Christmas by showing them God's love. We were able to serve over 84 families this evening on our fourth distribution.
01/16/12 - We shared God's love and hope with about 45 families this evening during our fifth food distribution effort. Although the numbers served were down, most were returning "friends", showing that God is at work developing new relationships between our church and the surrounding community.
02/20/12 - We shared God's love with at least 66 families on Monday night. This type of valentine is more than just a box of candy or a sweet card, it is the true meaning of agape love. Please continue to pray for our ministry as we search for ways to reach even further into our surrounding community.
03/19/12 - Thanks to everyone who served in our distribution of food to over 49 families this month. One of our home teams generously baked and handed out brownies as a special treat for each of the families coming for food assistance. Akso new this month, we were blessed with some gently used clothing that we were able to pass on to the families in need.
04/16/12 - This month we were again blessed with sweets to donate from one of our home teams. Also there was some new and used clothing to distribute as well as our primary food distribution. Over 50 bags of food were collected by the needy.
